About Us

At The Ransom, we believe Jesus Christ is the only thing that can set captives free. Our purpose is to use any and all methods possible to bring the truth of Jesus Christ to Sioux Falls.

What to Expect

What are services like?
We want to help people WORSHIP FREE at our Sunday morning worship services. Join us each Sunday at 8:30am, 10:00am, and 11:30 am as we wrestle with the reality of God and as we seek to discover what uninhibited worship really looks like. Scripture says that because of Jesus Christ, we can approach the throne of God with confidence! However, many things in our lives hinder us from doing just that. It is our desire that at The Ransom, we can work together to strip away those things, leaving you free to approach God the way He longs for you to! But it doesn’t end here. Once you begin to experience God through worship, you need to begin to grow in your relationship with Him.

What is the community like?
When you come for your first visit to The Ransom, you can expect to be greeted warmly, offered a complimentary coffee or water and given directions where to go. We are so glad that you are here! If you have children, you can expect to be shown to our “Ransom Kids Station”, where your child will be invited to sign-in for our kids ministry. This is done to make sure your child is kept as safe as possible. Next you will end up in the worship center, called the Warehouse, where you will be able to enjoy a time of videos, music and teaching. Our goal is to help people worship free of inhibition. We want you to be able to connect with the real God in a real and relevant way. After service, you will be invited to grab a free book, our gift to you. Feel free to grab another drink on your way out, or to hang out as long as you like! We have weekly Life Groups that we would love to have you join. We have service projects that we would love to work alongside you at. We have put thought and effort into creating a relevant and meaningful worship experience. We are expecting you!

What if I'm not a Christian?
We exist to set captives free…period. We do not exist to minister to Christians or to make believers comfortable. Our purpose is to use any and all methods possible to make the gospel relevant to those who do not yet believe. We long to minister to those who have lost hope in church but not in God. It is our goal to help REAL people experience the REAL God in a REAL and life-changing way.

Phill Tague

Phill is originally a Sioux Falls kid, but went to Oklahoma Wesleyan for College, graduating in 2001 and getting married the next day. His wife, Stephani, is way out of his league! They have 2 children- Trinity and Truitt. Phill and Steph moved to Maiden, North Carolina in the summer of 2001 and went on staff at a small church to develop a youth program. After 13 months, Phill received a call to serve as youth and worship pastor in Mitchell, SD, where he served for 6 years. In 2006, after a climbing accident that nearly claimed Phill’s life, God began to work on Phill and Steph, developing in them an incredible passion to launch a new church. In April 2008, after 6 years in Mitchell, Phill and Steph accepted that call. They moved to Sioux Falls in August, 2008 to plant “The Ransom”.
