The Federated Church of Green Lake

About Us

Traditional, Contemporary, Emerging, Well for the Soul Christian Church

The Federated church has as it's core values: Acceptance (of Jesus Christ and all of the the body of Christ and the world Christ loves); Family (the remembrance that our core relationships are the soil from which we learn to love as Christ loved us, and we want them to be healthy), and Spirituality (where we continue learn and allow the Holy Spirit to continually transform us into the people God intends for us to be.) The Federated Church has as it's roots a tri-denominational identity: American Baptist; United Church of Christ and United Methodist. We have both a traditional/liturgical worship service and a contemporary/family-based worship service. Our congregation draws people from our local community as well as a 100 mile radius.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Our 900 service is traditional/liturgical. We sing hymns; we include the Gloria Patri, Doxolgy and the Lord's Prayer. It is mainly retirement age but also has a number of younger families attending. Our 1030 service is "user/seeker-friendly," has a praise band, contemporary in format, and also includes opportunities for elementary Christian Education. We also include in both services an open opportunity for people to voice their prayers (both requests and praises) and then we lift them up to God. We have a mix of casual and formal - come as you feel comfortable to worship. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month at both services.

What is the community like?
Green Lake is a small get-away vacation community for many all year round. Situated right next to the beautiful Green Lake, there is a sense of Sabbath when one comes here to visit or lives here. The community is small, but globally connected, and community minded. There are many creative opportunities for all interests. In the center of the city is a Town Square, with a historic building in which many community classes and creative endeavors take place. During the winter it also hosts a local farmer's market. There is a beautiful library frequented by many local as well as visiting people. there are also great places to eat.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We consider it a gift to welcome anyone and know we are called to welcome one another with love. Our worship services point to the love of Christ as a gift to us, whenever we are ready, if, ever, we are ready.
