Our Services

What are services like?
Worshiping/ Experiencing God - You will feel comfortable participating in modern songs of celebration and worship. (If you haven’t been to church lately, you may be pleasantly surprised). Teaching - The teachings you will hear are relevant to living life in the real world. You will find them biblical, encouraging, challenging and relational.

What is the community like?
Connect With Others/ Discovering Hope - As we grow closer to God, we grow closer to each other. We strongly encourage people to become involved in a Small Group. Come casual. When we gather together, come as you are! For some that will mean suits and dresses, for others it means t-shirts and blue jeans. If you have children, you’ll want to come a few minutes early and to get them checked into Children’s Ministry (K-5th Grade in Gym, Nursery – Pre K in main building). Middle school and High school students are invited to join us in our morning gathering.

What if I'm not a Christian?
PEOPLE matter to God … So they matter to us. John 3:16 TRUTH is found in God’s Word … So the Bible is our source for instruction. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 COMMUNITY is essential for spiritual growth … So we emphasize relationship with one another and strengthening of the family. Hebrews 10:23-25 and John 13:35 Real hope is found in RELATIONSHIP with Jesus Christ … So we are committed to helping people discover relationship with Him. Romans 5:17

Leadership

Ancil Abney

Ancil Abney has been the Lead Pastor at The Church at Bradenton since 1999 after leading a church in Lexington, KY for 9 1/2 years. He and his wife (Kathy) have been married since 1982 and are the parents of three sons Austin, AJ, and Andrew. Ancil is originally from Lexington, KY where he attended the University of Kentucky before transferring to Warner Southern College (now Warner University) in Lake Wales, FL. He graduated from Warner in 1983 with a BA in Church Ministries. Kathy, originally from Kettering, OH is also a graduate of Warner with a BA in Elementary Education, and Georgetown College with a MA in Elementary Education. Ancil strives to bring God’s truth to people in a way that is clear, understandable and applicable to everyday life. Recommended Reading: The Best Question Ever, by Andy Stanley. Outside of church life, the Abney’s enjoy traveling, spending time with their sons and their wives, friends and shopping (Kathy for clothes, Ancil for cars).
