About Us

St. Paul's is a vibrant parish of more than 200 families. Although many reside in Riverside and Old Greenwich, our parishioners also come from elsewhere in Greenwich, Cos Cob, Stamford and other neighboring communities. Some are lifelong Episcopalians, but most come to us from a variety of different backgrounds.

St. Paul's offers abundant opportunities for personal and spiritual growth and for helping others. Our Christian education program includes Sunday school for children (pre-school through 5th grade), programs tailored for middle-school and high-school youth, and Sunday forums and periodic classes for adults covering a variety of topics. Our Outreach program helps those in need outside our parish. Our myriad parish ministries provide opportunities for fellowship among, and assistance to, parishioners. We are partners with the Diocese of Costa Rica, and have sent several mission teams, youth and adult, there to work.

We encourage you to attend one of our worship services, and join us afterwards for refreshments and fellowship. At the 10:15am Sunday service, the service is printed in full in our leaflet, including music.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Both of our Sunday services follow worship from the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, and include Holy Communion (also called Holy Eucharist) and a sermon from one of the clergy. We have a beautiful organ, and our Music Director accompanies the congregation for hymn singing and also plays instrumental pieces. Our 8am service is quieter and smaller, but there are often babies and small children in attendance. We normally have two hymns as part of this service. We alternate between Rite 1 (older, traditional language) and Rite 2 (modern language). This service normally lasts 45 to 55 minutes. Coffee is available following the service. The 10:15 service has a choir (except in the summer) and lots more music. The entire service, including the hymns, is printed in the Sunday leaflet. There are usually lots of children, and the younger ones often go to "Children's Chapel" for the first half of the service, coming back into the church to receive communion. Children are also welcome for the whole time, and there is also optional childcare available. This service is normally about an hour in length, and is followed by Refreshment Hour.

What is the community like?
We definitely reflect our surrounding neighborhood. We have members of all ages, and that includes lots of children and teenagers. We welcome families of all configurations. Although many reside in Riverside and Old Greenwich, our parishioners also come from elsewhere in Greenwich, Cos Cob, Stamford and other neighboring communities. Some are lifelong Episcopalians, but most come to us from a variety of different backgrounds. We are welcoming to all, and encourage questions about the Church, faith, and how or why we do things!

What if I'm not a Christian?
You are welcome to come and experience our worship. At the time of communion, those of us who are not baptized are encouraged to come forward to receive a blessing. Or you may choose, as some do, to remain at your seat. You are also welcome to make an appointment with one of the clergy if you'd like to know more about Christianity and/or the Episcopal Church.
