St Mark's Evangelical Lutheran Church
Growing Disciples for the 21st Century
About Us
St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, founded in 1879, is a congregation of the Delaware-Maryland Synod in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America serving Hampstead and the surrounding communities. As a community of believers who glorify God, we commit ourselves to Jesus Christ by loving, learning, serving and forgiving.
Our purpose as God’s people is to:
Glorify God through worship and in our daily lives.
Grow in our relationship with God and one another through learning and fellowship.
Go into the world to witness and serve.
Worship is offered on Sunday morning throughout the year, with special services during the season of Lent. Holy Communion is celebrated at all our Sunday worship services and most special services. All baptized Christians are invited to share in Communion. A children’s message is included in the Contemporary service. Nursery care is provided at both services.
St. Mark’s is air conditioned and there is plenty of parking in our lot behind the church building. When you park in the lot, you may enter the building through the set of doors furthest to your right, then up the steps where a warm welcome awaits you. Signs are also posted to help you find the sanctuary, the rest rooms and the nursery among other places.
There are handicap spaces in the front and in the back of the church. The North Main Street entrance has a handicap ramp but street parking is limited. The back of the church also has handicap spaces. You would enter through the double doors and walk in through the social hall. There is an elevator available down the hall.
The Church Office and meeting spaces are located in the Parish House, located next to the church building. Office hours are 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on weekdays except Wednesdays.
