What are services like?
Liturgy means 'the work of the people' and worship at St. Luke's invites participation of the whole community through spoken prayers, sung music, and movement of the body between sitting, kneeling, standing, and coming to the altar for communion. Communion is celebrated at every Sunday service. The clergy and altar servers wear vestments. Every service includes readings from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Gospels. Services also include a 10-15 minute sermon (sometimes offered by the clergy and sometimes by other members of the community). Music is passionate and high-quality, participatory and diverse. People come to church wearing what is comfortable for them. You'll see some people decked out in their Sunday best and you'll see others in their comfy weekend wear.

What is the community like?
The kingdom of God is like the church community at St. Luke's. That is, always screwing up and always thanking God for God's faithfulness. The Gospel themes of hospitality and holy disruption are emphasized in preaching. More questions are asked or wondered than answered. Un-learning (the damaging stuff we've picked up about our faith and about God) happens as a community.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Here, sit by me. This is Christ's church, not our church, and Christ turns no one away. We will feel like we've done our job if we have welcomed you with hospitality and warmth. Someone will likely be holding you in prayer as you discern whatever it is you are discerning--prayer that God leads you where you need to go, not that you will join this church. You might decide to stay and rest for a while. You might decide to dig your feet in and become grounded here. You might decide this community is not a good fit. Along the way you will be loved and supported, and you'll have opportunities to learn about the crazy wonderful paths of Christianity and Anglicanism.
