What to Expect

What are services like?
The Eucharistic services are based on The Book of Common Prayer in both the 8 AM and 10:30 AM Sunday services. Music is not part of the 8:00 AM service, but is an integral part of the 10:30 AM service, with the singing of hymns by the congregation and the choir.

What is the community like?
St. John's is located in downtown Charleston, and has provided community leadership in areas of social justice since the 1970s. Many service groups originated at St. John's and have since established themselves as independent, non-profit organizations. St. John's also hosts Manna Meal, a non-profit organization that serves breakfast and lunch to those in need (no questions asked) 365 days each year. An average of over 200 people are served daily in this ministry to the poor.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Everyone is welcome at St. John's! We are an inclusive community and welcome those of faith, or no faith at all, to join in our efforts to create a better world in which to live by loving and respecting one another.
