The Orthodox Church is the original Christian Church, the Church founded by the Lord Jesus Christ and described in the pages of the New Testament. Her history can be traced in unbroken continuity all the way back to Christ and His Twelve Apostles. For over twenty centuries she has continued in her undiminished and unaltered faith and practice. Today her apostolic doctrine, worship, and structure remain intact. The Orthodox Church maintains that the Church is the living Body of Jesus Christ.

What to Expect

What are services like?
In an Orthodox church there is only one Eucharistic service (Divine Liturgy) per Sunday, and it is preceded by an hour-long service of Matins (or Orthros) and several short preparatory services before that. There is no break between these services. The members of the church sing most of the service responses in both English and Greek.

What is the community like?
Our church family is made up of all different kinds of people from many walks of life. We welcome all who desire to worship our Lord in the same manner as the early Christians. We have a coffee hour after church service every Sunday that is more like lunch than just coffee and donuts.

What if I'm not a Christian?
All are welcome to St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church. Our priests are most willing to sit and discuss our faith with anyone who asks.
