St John Lutheran Church

About Us

A member congregation of the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS)

St. John's is a confessional Lutheran congregation in Stanton, Nebraska. St. John's is a wonderful family of believers built on the foundation of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. We gather in His Name, we grow in His Grace and give thanks for His goodness in God's Service every Sunday morning as God comes to meet us in His Holy Word and Sacraments. We also offer Christian education to all ages and operate a Lutheran preschool where young souls from our congregation and community are touched by the love of their Savior everyday.

What to Expect

What are services like?
At St. John's you will find liturgical worship, for the Lutheran Church is a liturgical church. We worship our Lord, who is a God of order, in a very structured way. We use the historic liturgy of the Church, based entirely on texts directly from the Scriptures, that the Holy Christian Church has been using for nearly 2000 years. It ties us to the Holy Christian Church of the past, present and future as it beautifully proclaims the gospel of Christ to us and lets us send our praises to heaven for God’s unsearchable grace. It focuses us on the Word of God and the Lord’s Supper, the means by which God comes to us. The historic liturgy is St. John’s worship because it is the Holy Christian Church’s worship and because it is full of the Holy Gospel.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You are most welcome. We are a group of sinners who invite more to come and receive the most blessed thing a sinner can: the forgiveness and love of God.
