What to Expect

What are services like?
We have two very different services. Both are "come as you are." Our 8am service is quiet and meditative. There is "thee and thou" language and organ music. Our 10am service is much more social. We use every day language and our music includes both the organ and keyboard.

What is the community like?
St. Barnabas folks come from across a wide spectrum of background, education, work experience, and theological understanding. We respect one another and work together to serve God's people in our midst.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You will have company here. We are made of folks who have been Christians all there lives, folks who would consider themselves seekers, and those who are not Christian but are part of St. Barnabas because of who we are and how we try to live what Jesus taught - inclusivity, mutual care and compassion, and joy.

Leigh Waggoner

Leigh Waggoner

Leigh (whose name was good enough to be baptized by and so needs no titles) was born in WV, raised in TX, spent most of her adult life in WI, and is delighted to be in Cortez. She is wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her call to ordained ministry came following years teaching ballet and serving over 500 women as mid-wife. She relishes silence, beauty in all its forms, and the wild. She is grateful that the community of St. Barnabas heard the Spirit and called her.
