About Us

Timeless Worship, Tried and True Teaching.

A 1928 Book of Common Prayer parish, St. Augustine's sets forth a worthy offering of worship and dedication before God. The music is classic, from the ages of the best of Christian hymns. The liturgy is in the highest English language tradition, sacramental and reverential. We welcome families, building generations to continue the faith once given to the saints.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Enter the solid walnut tower doors, and leave the 21st century behind along with the confusion and your daily grind. This is God’s House, and you are welcome in it. Quiet your heart, clear your mind, and open your eyes to light streaming through stained glass, your ears to feast on classical organ music and timeless lyrical expressions of God’s glory. This is worship. Give yourself to it. We worship in a liturgical style, which means that our words are carefully chosen and composed, deeply embedded with Scriptural truth, time-tested and trustworthy. Join in, or just listen. Stand, sit, kneel with us, or just relax until you understand. Folders in the bookracks help you enter the liturgy more easily until you can get around in the Prayer Book and Hymnal. Why aren’t there Bible’s in the bookracks? Of course, you may bring your own Bible, but our Prayer Book is loaded with all the Scripture you’ll need during the actual service, and we have many Bibles available to our Bible studies, for young and old, elsewhere in the Church. Listen carefully, and you’ll know that the Bible is our language of prayer. If you are baptized and an adult, and you are certain that Christ is truly present in the elements of blessed bread and wine on the altar, you are welcome to join us at the Communion rail to receive them. You are welcome in any case, with your children, to be blessed. Just cross your arms across your chest. You will be blessed indeed. While the language of our worship is Elizabethan English, the preaching is fashioned to meet you where you live. We seek preach relevant application of biblical truth, and adapted to your every day lives. Please feel welcome at St. Augustine’s!

What is the community like?
Although our worship is formal, and our focus during the service is on God, not each other, at all others times our people deeply love one another, and welcome newcomers warmly. We enjoy sharing what we have and extending our family to include all who come to appreciate this Christ-centered time for their own lives.

What if I'm not a Christian?
That's not a problem: we are a teaching church. If we can answer any question at all, we're happy to do so. Our bulletin encourages you not to check your brains in at the church doors, but let your mind be moved along with your heart and soul. You may simply sit and watch, and we're not offended that you do. Happy you asked!
