What to Expect

What are services like?
Sunday services of Morning Prayer or Holy Eucharist (communion). Services include praying, singing, Scripture readings, sermons and teaching. About an hour in length. Gathering outdoors in summer; moving indoors or on Zoom for colder months.

What is the community like?
A worshipping community that is small in size with people gathering from St. J. and surrounding areas; some summer visitors. Progressive and inclusive--LGBTQ. Engaged in finding new ways to "be church" outside our building and in the Town. Trying out some things, taking some risks, and wanting to follow Jesus for deeper meaning in our lives. Shared leadership for worship and for decision-making.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You don't have to have a particular set of beliefs to participate at St. Andrew's. Come and see, sit with us, sing if you want to, or just be quiet. We believe that our practice shapes our belief. Everyone is welcome.

Susan Ohlidal
Priest & Host

Born in Pennsylvania and raised in many places around the US, I served as an educator and non-profit worker, and have called Vermont "home" for over 20 years. My education includes liberal arts, women's studies, and eventually seminary. I'm a graduate of Wilson College, Penn State, Harvard, and Episcopal Divinity School. My ministry has included lay leadership in the Church throughout New England, being on the Bishop's staff team in Vermont, and now local ministry in St. Johnsbury with the people of St. Andrew's. I also work as co-pastor of "Pub・lic Theology," an online gathering to explore stories and beliefs outside of religion institutions. facebook.com/PublictheologyStJ
