St. Andrews Presbyterian Church

About Us

Expository, faithful preaching and teaching

We are a small church in Americus, GA. Our desire is to declare the whole counsel of God to all the people of God. We desire to make much of him and not much of ourselves. Faithfulness rather than trendiness is our goal.

What to Expect

What are services like?
We attempt to model the gospel in our worship liturgy. We begin with God calling us to worship and prayer. Then we praise God for who he is and what he has done. After the Old Testament is read, we confess our sins and receive the pardon offered us to God in his Word. We enter into a time of thanksgiving where the New Testament is read, we pray, and we demonstrate our thankfulness by giving our tithes and offerings. After singing God's praises, we enter into a time of listening to God's Word read and expounded. We close the service of worship by responding in praise and receiving the Lord's benediction.

What is the community like?
We are an older body of believers with a few younger families. The people are friendly but generally eager to get to lunch after the morning worship service is complete. It is best to come to Sunday School at 9:45 to share in a heavy snack/light breakfast. It is during this time that we tend to catch up on our lives over the past week. We also have a dedicated core group that meets on Wednesday nights for a time of praise and study.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We desire to be open to outsiders. We don't have a dress code you have to meet in oder to worship with us. It may take a bit to become familiar with how we worship, but the goal of what we do is to glorify God and to praise him. You are free to observe and participate. We are not "seeker-sensitive," not because we do not desire to reach out to those who are seeking, but because we believe our primary audience is the Triune God of heaven and worship is for him and the edifying of the saints (believers here below). We would love for you to join us. The pastor is always eager to answer questions, either after the service or during the week.
