South Poplar Bluff General Baptist Church

About Us

A Great Place for Family

We have been around for over 100 years and have a strong family tie and a stong community tie. We are a blue color church for the most part. Farmers, factory workers to medical field workers and a lot of retired teachers. Not to mention a lot of great cooks.
The folks here have great big hearts and really care about serving others, reaching out and making a difference. They are a humble bunch, so you will not see many of them brag on themselves. It's just who they are!
We are a small group just holding on to what we got in a world that is loosing sight of what we have.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Real! Just real people doing their best to worship God! You will not find TV talent and a 40 piece band cranking out sound that would make Nashville applaud. We will do our best in the music area. The message will be delivered in a story line that seems to go by pretty fast and is done so in a message style that you can apply to your life or that you can use to apply to a situation in someone elses life. I love the message it really drives home the word of God for me and I always leave going wow, that was real!

What is the community like?
I feel like family in this community. I don't feel like I am around a lot of people looking down their noses at me. I feel I am around my uncles and aunts and grandparents and so on. It feels like family to me.

What if I'm not a Christian?
This is the perfect place to be if you are not a Christian. We have had several people come in just lately wearnign skulls and crossbones and shorts and t-shirts and they are just as welcome as the next person. Christ died for them too. I mean after all. It's God house, not ours.
