New City Church-Austin

About Us

Joining God in the Renewal of All Things

We are a Christian community of faith in the Central/South Austin area. Our mission at New City Church is 'joining God in the renewal of all things'. We do so primarily by intentionally sharing our lives with one another and loving our city through gospel-formed communities on mission, with the posture of grace, truth and renewal.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Our weekly service gatherings are casual in dress and conversation, but deeply gospel-centered in song & teaching. We generally start with three songs of worship where we remind ourselves of who God is and the grace He gives us. We begin our teaching with the scripture reading for the morning, followed by the sermon message. From there we transition to an invitation to weekly communion, and three songs of worship in response to Gods grace. We believe that worship is something we were made for, and proper worship is to God in response to His grace. We would love to have you to come early for breakfast tacos, coffee & conversation prior to the service gathering.

What is the community like?
You will meet people who are alot like you. We are professionals, bohemians, college students, musicians, artists, moms and dads, and more. We come from broken backgrounds and spotless records, from nuclear families and divorce, we have been through some life and each of us walks with a bit of a limp that life has given us. Some of us became believers in Christ at an early age. Others, including the pastor, came to faith in Christ well into adulthood. We are not perfect people, but we hope to be humble people who follow Christ. No matter your past or present, we invite anyone to join us.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Awesome! The pastor came to faith at 28 years old, and knows what it's like to not believe the gospel of Jesus, but still hang out with people who do. It's just weird to see people raising their hands and singing out loud in a room. The words are unfamiliar, and you can feel a certain social pressure to sing along to words you don't believe. On top of that, the pastor is probably gonna yell at you. But he won't. The truth is that it is the lovingkindness of God that leads us to repentance and joy, not condemnation. In short, we know it can feel a little awkward, but it won't always be that way. Tell the pastor you're not a Christian, but you wanted to come that day. You will likely just get an invite to eat some tacos and share stories. Tacos and stories? What's not to like about that.
