What to Expect

What are services like?
Our services are typically a little more than an hour in length and feature a blended approach to musical styles, with both traditional hymns and some more contemporary selections. We do have a small choir with both piano and organ accompianment. Our Pastor serves as both our music leader and preacher, with messages rich in Scriptural content. Sunday evenings are veryrelaxed in atmosphere with a greater amount of contemporary music.

What is the community like?
We are a very loving and accepting congregation who have a genuine interest in one another. The majority of our members are retired from the work force with a small number of those in the 40+ age range. With many retired Army among our members we would love to see many activie duty come and help us build a ministry to those stationed at Ft. Bliss as well as reach out to younger adults and families in our area. We have a rich history, but long for those who will come and help us rebuild and reach out to new persons in our community. The majority of our membership are Anglo, with African-Americans as the next largest ethnic group. We also have a few Hispanics and Asians and would welcome anyone to come and worship with us.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You will find a very accepting congregation who will welcome you and not judge you. We welcome those who are searching and have questions concerning the Christian faith and the Bible. Our pastor reads publicly from different modern translations of the Bible to aid in your understanding of what the Word of God says. We are genuninely interested in people, and provide a monthly distribution of food and clothing that is donated to us to help those in need.

I was in this church for many years. Dr. D. Douglas was a good teacher and Ron Rich was a beautiful singer and Youth Leader.

I was a member of this church early on in the late sixties. I learned my faith and beliefs and how to live a righteous life at this church. When I was 5 Pastor Douglas asked if there was anyone in our congregation who wanted to give their life to Jesus. Without hesitation I walked down the aisel at age 5 thinking to myself Christ died on the cross for me it is the least I can do to die for him. I actually thought I had to physically die and I was willing to do this! I was later a Royal Ambassador I made it to Pathfinder I think. Then I would be Baptised for the second ,but real time! Nothing but good memories of this church and my youth. Camping ,picnics ,Christmas shows ,Sunday school ,we did it all!
