Saint John Lutheran Church

About Us

A congregation of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod

At St. John's Lutheran Church, we value the pure, Biblical preaching of God's Word; the correct administration of His Sacraments (Baptism and the Lord's Supper); learning and the study of Holy Scripture by all ages; and the support, fellowship, and friendliness of God's people.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Our services use various historic liturgies of the Chrisitan Church; hymns sung out of a hymnal, accompanied by organ or piano; a sermon drawn from the Bible, tailored to the experiences, needs, and concerns of our congregation; Baptisms of all ages (infants to adults); celebration of the Lord's Supper on first and third Sundays of the month; children's messages once a month; and a joyful and thankful spirit!

What is the community like?
Our congregation is in a rural setting, but draws people from both the country and nearby Geneseo and Quad Cities urban areas. Members and visitors say they are drawn to the peaceful, beautiful country setting, and stay for the nourishment of God's Word and Sacraments!

What if I'm not a Christian?
Non-Christians are welcome to attend any of our services and classes at any time. Questions are welcome, and our members and pastor would be happy to answer them! We do ask, however, that you be instructed in the Lutheran Christian faith before you partake of the Lord's Supper with us. We'd be happy to answer questions about that, too!
