About Us

Celebrating, Living and Sharing the Abundant Life of Jesus

At St. John, we are focused on the clear gift of life that God has given to us through His Son, Jesus, as it is written in John 10:10—[Jesus said:] I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. Imagine a life full of meaning, purpose, and true abundance! It’s not a matter of gold and silver, but of service, purpose, and faith in the One who died so that we could live abundantly now and throughout eternity. For that reason, I invite you to join one of our Bible classes, to enjoy the fellowship events that we regularly have, and to rejoice with us in Celebrating, Living and Sharing the Abundant Life of Jesus.

What to Expect

What are services like?
8:15am - Majestic Grace This liturgical service offers a worship experience that encompasses many traditional aspects of Lutheran worship, led by our pastors. Orders of worship vary week to week from traditional liturgies such as Divine Service from the Lutheran Service Book to other creative and engaging services. Our praise to God is expressed through hymns, songs, prayer, and preaching. Classic hymns relating to the message of the day are led by the organ and other instruments. Adults and children of all ages are encouraged to attend Majestic Grace. Dress for this service ranges from casual to suits and dresses. 11am - NewSong Our contemporary service offers the same worshipful experience as Majestic Grace but in a different atmosphere. An exciting blend of today’s music relating to the message of the day ushers you into the very presence of the Lord in an uplifting, yet relaxed setting. NewSong services are led by our pastors and praise band. Adults and children of all ages attend NewSong worship. Dress for this service is mostly casual to business casual.

What is the community like?
Families come to St. John from a number of neighborhoods and areas around Northwest Houston--Cypress, Tomball, Magnolia, Jersey Village, and Katy. There is a great blend of younger families (with children in our Early Childhood Center) and older adults who are all seeking to celebrate, live, and share the abundant life of Jesus together as one body of Christ.

What if I'm not a Christian?
For those who are searching, we believe that each of us has been called by God to live as his disciples, and that we understand this through three short phrases: Grace alone—God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly. Faith alone—By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him. Scripture alone—The Bible is God's inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine. We offer some great introductory discussions on our Christian beliefs throughout the year through our Abundant Life-101 Study.
