Resurrection Beach MCC

About Us

LGBT, Evangelical Christian, Welcoming and Affirming, Inclusive

RBMCC seeks to give active witness to the person and work of Jesus Christ through preaching, worship, fellowship, the sacraments of Communion and water baptism and, most importantly outreach ministries that meet the felt and spiritual needs of the surrounding Community.

RBMCC reflects the historical tradition of the UFMCC fellowship in that it specifically seeks to serve sexual minorities who often find at best only qualified acceptance within traditional Christian church bodies.

Our message is that God loves people just as they are created and calls them into covenant relationship without any strings attached. Through word and deed, RBMCC hopes to spread this message to all people – gay, straight or otherwise - who would receive it.

Oh yeah…We also welcome potty-trained, well-behaved dogs at all our services!

What to Expect

What are services like?
We have two Sunday services, one in the morning from 10:15 to 11:45, and a similar service in the evening from 5:00 to 6:30. We have fellowship after each service, light refreshments in the morning and a potluck dinner after the evening service, where people socialize with each other for anywhere from a few minutes up to 45 minutes after service. Attendance averages between 30-45 at our longstanding evening service, and our newly inaugurated morning service (Dec 2012) averages 20 attendees. Our worship style is contemporary and is suited for a small to medium size church environment. We worship with guitar and piano accompaniment for contemporary praise music as well as synthesized organ for our favorite hymns. Offertory music is often presented by musicians from within our congregation as “special music” offerings. Ty Bradley has served as our Pastoral Leader and preaches 2-3 times monthly. In keeping with our tradition of an open pulpit, we continue to welcome a variety of speakers to fill in for those Sundays that Pastor Ty is not preaching. Pastor Ty's messages are dynamic and driven by Biblical teaching that promotes an active, vibrant life in Jesus Christ. In keeping with the strong tradition of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches (MCC) we observe the sacrament of Holy Communion weekly during our worship service in an “open” fashion. This means, simply, that we place no requirements on anyone who wishes to receive the Communion elements. The invitation to remember Christ’s work on the cross comes not from any church or human being, but directly from God through Jesus Himself. We believe that if you feel drawn to receive Communion it means God’s Spirit has expressly invited you to do so. It is our deep honor to facilitate your presence at God’s table. ALL ARE WELCOME!

What is the community like?
Our church comprises a cross-generational congregation, with a balanced representation of young adults, middle aged professionals and those enjoying the golden years of life. At this time we only have a couple of young families with children, but we certainly have room for more in both the church and in our hearts! About 75% of our congegration self-identifies as LGBT, and about 25% are non-LGBT who simply appreciate worshipping in an inclusive environment. While many of our ministries have particular relevance to the LGBT and HIV/AIDS communities, our relevance continues to grow outside of these historical priorities and our straight members and friends of the church enjoy a vibrant and rich church life in our community. More than anything we are a very warm, caring family that pulls together to minister to one another and the larger community in ways that truly reflect both the heart and empowerment of Christ.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Then we'd definitely love for you to check us out and see what has got us so filled with excitement and joy. Our messages and worship are definitely identifiably "Christian" in the traditional sense, but thankfully our radically inclusive welcoming spirit runs counter to what many "traditional" Christian churches have tragically exemplified to those who are seeking answers to their own unique spiritual questions.
