Our Services

What are services like?
On the first Sunday of each month, we meet altogether as a large group and do more traditional liturgy (greeting, prayer, music, sermon, communion, offering, more music, more prayer), though we do have a pretty conversational policy. And there's a meal afterward. All the other Sundays we meet in homes. In that setting we do a lot of prayer, simple music, sermon/discussion, communion, offering, and then a meal. We talk, have tea, and sit around the campfire or the pool until late in the evening.

What is the community like?
Community is holistic for us. Imagine, if you will, that you are in a room with wooden floors and you're sitting on a comfy couch. It's snowing outside, and you're sitting next to a warm fireplace, with a blanket wrapped around you and an incredible book in your hands (even if you don't like to read, you like THIS book). And wafting in from the next room over is the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking. The lights glow warm around you. And there's no place that you need to be other than right where you are. Do you feel it? Redemption isn't a community that seeks to be physically comfortable all the time, but we do intentionally craft our lives to help one another find a spirit of comfort with God and with one another. Also, if it's helpful, our two main demographics are usually the young and the poor, meaning a lot of homeless or formerly homeless people and a lot of college students. Ages range typically from mid-late 30s down to late teens, with a handful of 50-somethings in there.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You'll be in good company. There are several people who come every week who aren't Christians or don't know yet where they stand. We intentionally create space for that. And while all of us will be challenged to dig deeper into what it is we believe (Christian or not), there will always be a space at the table.
