About Us

Love God. Love others.

We want to extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, gay, filthy rich, or dirt poor.

We extend a special welcome to fussy infants, and gray-haired veterans - skinny as a rail or could afford to lose a few pounds.

We welcome you if you can sing like an angel or couldn't carry a tune if it was strapped to you. We have them both here.

You're welcome here if you're "church shopping", just woke up, or just got out of jail. We welcome you if you're more religious than the Pope, or haven't been to a church service since Aerosmith was good.

We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome soccer moms, ESPN dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, latte-sippers, vegetarians, and junk-food eaters.

We welcome those who are in recovery or still addicted. We welcome you if you're having problems or you're down in the dumps. We welcome those who don't like "organized religion," or had Christianity shoved down your throats - we've been there too.

If you blew all your offering money at the racetrack, you're welcome here. We offer a special welcome to those who work too hard, work too little, or don't work at all.

We welcome those who are inked, pierced, both or neither. We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, were guilted to come today by grandma, or got lost in traffic and wound up here by mistake.

We welcome tourists, seekers, doubters, bleeding hearts ... and you!

What to Expect

What are services like?
We're so glad that you've decided to check out our website. We hope that this information is helpful for you and that you join us sometime! Poplar Creek is a true "come as you are" community, and one that does not impose any kind of dress code. It is our deep desire to be radically authentic in everything we do including the times that we gather together. On any given Sunday morning, you'll find individuals both in suits, and in shorts, so please feel free to simply come as you'd like! Services – Sundays 9am & 11am Communion: Because we believe that Jesus Christ is the key and central figure in history and that we are called as a body to be fully Gospel-centric, we choose to celebrate the Lord's Supper each week as a reminder and celebration of the price paid for our salvation and the call to live as Jesus did. Gifts (Tithes and Offerings): At Poplar Creek we do not "pass a plate" to collect the tithes and offerings. Instead, we have our "Joy Box" in the back of the auditorium where all are encouraged to give their first fruits to God. If you'd like, you may also give a gift online by clicking on the word GIVE found on the title bar to your left. We do encourage everyone to bring a Bible with them on Sunday mornings, but we also are sure to have the text available on the screen during the services as well. If you do not have a Bible and would like one, please let one of our friendly Greeters know and they'll be happy to get one for you! Our services typically run somewhere between 70-80 minutes in length, but we also believe passionately that the Holy Spirit is the one who is truly in control and seek to be open and sensitive to his leading as well. Nursery – For our youngest attenders (0-3 years) we have a fully staffed nursery during our worship gatherings located in the back of the auditorium. Upon entering our building, this room can be found to the left. Children – Our wonderful Children's Ministry takes place in our lower level at the 11am Sunday morning worship gathering only and is for children ages three years through grade six. We are excited and committed to teaching our children of the Good News of Jesus Christ in a safe and nurturing environment. Our curriculum is not only age-appropriate, but deeply biblically based as well. Teens – Because we are a genuinely inter-generational community, our students are encouraged to worship with the greater church community on Sunday mornings and bring such vibrancy to our time together! Our young people also have a mid-week student ministry geared specifically for them that meets on Wednesday evenings at 7pm in our lower level. Our teens also participate in numerous outreach, fellowship and service events throughout the year. For more information, please visit our Ministries page here. Email Newsletter – At Poplar Creek Church we have a vibrant and active congregation and we know that information is a critical component in helping communicate who we are and what we're doing. Every Friday our office sends out an e-mail newsletter filled with reminders and updates for the upcoming weeks. If you would like to be added to this list, please send an email to our Office Administrator. You can also call 630.483.1000 between the hours of 9am-2pm Monday through Friday if you have any questions whatsoever. We also welcome any feedback or suggestions you may have and greatly value your insight! Prayer – Are you in need of prayer? Our wonderful Shepherds (Elders) and Prayer Team members are happy and eager to pray with and for you at the end of each service in front by our stage for any reason whatsoever. You are also welcome to fill out a prayer request card and place it in the "Joy Box" located at the back of our auditorium. All written requests will be sent to the church prayer chain alerting our team of the need and will be prayed for by a group of loving, passionate and fervent Christians ready to bring these requests to God. If you would like to be part of the prayer chain and will commit to praying faithfully for any request submitted, please send an email to our Prayer Team at: [email protected] or contact our office at: 630.483.1000 [email protected]
