Who We Are
Plain Congregational Church has a rich heritage of worship, since 1835. Pastor Steve Baney teaches that worship is like a language (like English, French, or German). In the same way that one language isn't better than another (they're simply different) neither is one style of worship better than another. And just as we can learn to speak and appreciate a new language, so we can learn to speak and appreciate new styles of worship.
For this reason, we include the well thought-out liturgical elements of worship (responsive reading, communion, etc.) with theologically rich traditional hymns led by our choir. These are blended with contemporary songs (from Chris Tomlin, K-Love, etc.), using today's vocabulary and music-style with our worship band (drums, guitar, bass, etc.). The style of music is often described as blended.
