Our Services

What are services like?
Our worship is generally about an hour or a little more long. We meet in a traditional sanctuary, with primarily piano and occasionally organ and guitar music. Sometimes our children are with their family, sometimes in Sunday School classes. We're casual in dress, committed in spirit, and open in our exploration of biblical values and contemporary Christian values.

What is the community like?
We are an open and affirming UCC church. As our denomination says, so say we: "No matter who you are or where you are in life's journey, you are welcome here."

What if I'm not a Christian?
Those who are seeking to explore personal faith in a progressive protestant tradition are welcome to attend a Sunday morning service - or - to call and speak with the pastor about our faith life.. We are always exploring the dimensions and limits of our faith at Alfred Parish Church.

Leadership View all

Bruce Burnham

32+ years ordained in the United Church of Christ: a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend, pastor, colleague, preacher, teacher, counselor to parishioners, trip leader, summer camp counselor - always seeking to learn and to help others learn who God is and where to find and access the sacred and holy in their own life. Sometimes I am good at being any and all of these, and sometimes not so good. I cultivate humility as a virtue, but know that to teach and lead standing firm in one's own faith means seeming arrogant and unmoving!
