Orange View Church of Christ

About Us

Orange View exists to encourage all people to pursue a lifelong, joyous relationship with Jesus Christ. Our congregation began in 2008, when two smaller churches (Fairview and Orange) came together to form one congregation. We are a completely nondenominational Christian church. That means that we are governed by our own elders, not an outside organization. Although we are associated with the American Restoration Movement, you should not confuse us with the denominational Church of Christ, or the International Church of Christ. We currently have 4 elders, 9 deacons, and two ministers that work with the church.

What to Expect

What are services like?
A couple hundred people attend Orange View each Sunday, and we have several volunteers working hard to make sure all visitors are welcomed and encouraged. Our congregation spans a range of ages and backgrounds. The teachers, preachers, and song leaders typically dress conservatively in "business casual", but you'll see people in the pews dressed in all styles—from jeans to business suits. Our worship service is a blend of contemporary and traditional music, all done acapella (without instrumental accompaniment). If you'd like a sample of what our music sounds like, click here, or here, or here. Our service is divided into two segments, each about 35 minutes long. During the first half of the service, the emphasis is on singing and taking the Lord's Supper (also known as communion). Just before the Lord's Supper is served, a speaker will explain the significance of the event, and then servers will pass a tray with bread and another tray with small cups of grape juice (non-alcoholic). If you would like to participate, feel free to do so, but if not, just pass the tray along to the person next to you. About half way through the service, just before a 5 minute break, the speaker will encourage you to greet the people sitting around you, but no one will single you out as a visitor. Also, we don't expect our visitors to financially contribute to the church. So feel free to let the offering plate pass by when it comes down your row. The second half of the service is mostly focused on teaching the Bible, with an emphasis on application of Biblical principles to daily life. Our two preachers, Michael Jones and Brian Young, both desire to make the Bible real in the life of the congregation. The message might deal with things like family life, financial matters, love and marriage, ways we can love our neighbor, overcoming struggles with sin, the person of Jesus, or the nature of God. One thing is certain, and that is that the message will be strongly rooted in the BIble! Kids are welcome to attend worship services, and are encouraged to do so. However, if you have smaller children that you would rather not have in the auditorium, an adjoining nursery with a view of the auditorium is provided for your use.
