New Life Assembly of God

Who We Are

Making Janesville and area Christ-conscious.

At New Life, the heartbeat of who we are and what we stand for are our core values. In everything we do, we aim to serve. We resonate with the passion of John the Baptist who desired to become less and less so that Jesus might become more (John 3:30). We believe this is accomplished through serving others.

In our church, we serve Jesus Christ. We do this through worship and biblical teaching on Sunday and throughout the various ministries of the week. We do this in our everyday lives, understanding He is King and Creator over each and every moment.

In our church, we serve our community. Freedom Fest is one of our major events which we view as a gift to our community. We offer completely free rides, a free concert, and a free health clinic as a means to spread the news of God's free grace. Additionally, we have adopted Kennedy Elementary School by caring for its faculty and students during and after school. Our food pantry is also available throughout the week to those in need.

In our church, we serve your family. We hope you notice the family-oriented ministries available at New Life. We have something available for people of all ages!

In our church, we serve you. We care about you deeply because we believe Jesus has a plan and purpose for each individual. Our pastors and staff are here to assist you as you pursue Jesus daily.

If you have any further questions about our specific doctrines and beliefs, please feel free to talk to one of our pastors. Also, you can find this information online at www.ag.org or on our church website at www.nlag.net.

What to Expect

What are services like?
As you make your way into our sanctuary, you will notice a high energy and God-centered worship experience. Our worship is a time to give praise and thanks to God. At New Life, we strongly emphasize our worship because, to be quite frank, we have a lot to praise and thank our God for! Our music style is contemporary worship intermixed with other classic hymns and styles. Our worship, however, is not limited to singing. You will often see individuals raising and clapping their hands in worship. We clap our hands as a sign of surrender. It is an outward symbol of the surrender that has actually taken place in our hearts. We clap our hands because we believe that through Jesus Christ, we have victory in life. Some feel comfortable clapping and raising their hands while other enjoy just singing. Regardless, it is our prayer that during this time you would connect with God and give Him the praise and thanks He deserves! Also, within our service, our senior pastor–Pastor Michael Jackson–or one of his scheduled speakers from around the world will bring a message from the Word. You can view the most current and previous sermons right here on our website. Our pastoral staff is always available to pray and discuss the sermon material with you throughout the week a well. Our heartfelt prayer is that your experience at New Life would not be limited to Sunday mornings. We have various ministries throughout the week as well as LIFE Groups which are designed for you to connect and participate with the community of New Life. You can view our various ministries/information here. We wholeheartedly believe there is a place for you at our church. No matter your background or history, Jesus wants to be a part of your life. We are looking forward to meeting you!

What is the community like?
At New Life, we hope you expect to find friends and family who will help encourage you in your walk with God. Everything from our foyer space, to our worship set, to our message, and even to our weekly activities exists so that you might connect with each other and with God. It is our prayer that you and your family may find a community at New Life in which you can connect, love, and grow in your walk with God. We aim to be a friendly church offering a total ministry to the family and providing a good balance of spiritual and social activities. We are continuously amazed at what God is doing in our lives as individuals and as a church; and, we are incredibly excited to have you become a part of what God is going right here. If you are visiting on a Sunday morning, you will notice that our foyer is filled with people. One of the many ways we encourage our community to know and love one another is through our Right Road Coffee & Tea Shop. Feel free to grab a cup of coffee and a donut and meet someone new. Also, in our foyer, you will notice Guest Central. If you have any questions on what we believe as a church, how to get connected into our activities or ministries, or any other general information questions, our friendly volunteers at Guest Central will be able to help you. You will notice a computer kiosk at the desk where you can sign up for any of our upcoming events as well.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Anyone is welcome at New Life. Come as you are. Jesus welcomed all sorts of people, and He genuinely loved them. Please know that before you ever visit our church, we have prayed for you. We pray that through our community you would experience the transforming power and love of Jesus Christ.

Leadership

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson accepted the call to New Life Assembly of God In November, 1999. He came to Janesville after pastoring the Assembly of God in Willmar, Minnesota. He was called into the ministry in 1966 and has been a pastor since 1970. Prior to pastoring, Pastor Mike served as a director with Houston, Texas Teen Challenge for three years. Our pastor graduated with a degree in Christian Ministry from Southern Bible College in Houston, Texas. He also taught there part-time. He also received his Emergency Medical Technician Special Skills Certification from Lee College in Baytown, Texas. Through the years Pastor Mike has spoken at numerous district conferences, revivals, and seminars here in America as well as in Romania. He was one of the speakers at the 2010 Wisconsin/Northern Michigan Family Camp. Jackson is a published author. His material has been carried in such periodicals as Enrichment journal, The Pentecostal Evangel, The Pentecostal Messenger, Advance, Ministries journal, Pulpit Helps, American Family Association Journal, as well as several other magazines and newspapers. He has helped write two books and his material has appeared in several others. He has written and directed one Christian drama. Charisma magazine honored Pastor Jackson as one of the “Outstanding Pastors in America” in 1987. He has served on many boards and committees including the General Presbytery of the Assemblies of God, the Executive Presbytery of the Wisconsin-Northern Michigan District, as well as on the presbytery in the Wisconsin-Northern Michigan District , the South Dakota District as well as the Minnesota District. He has also served on the Northern California-Nevada District Missions Board, and the Northern California-Nevada District Teen Challenge Board of Administration. He was also honored to serve as the Chaplain of the Nevada State Assembly and Senate. A special highlight of his ministry was having served as the Chaplain of the United States House of Representatives on July 12, 2006. Since May, 2001, New Life Assembly of God has planted four churches including Sanders Creek Community Church in Edgerton, Wisconsin, Living Waters Church in Elkhorn, as well as a Korean and Hispanic work in Janesville. Having been raised in poverty, Jackson has a heart for the poor and the outcast. This has translated in his being active in several humanitarian efforts including helping drill a water well in northern Kenya to having two Day of Compassion events in Janesville. He has been active in health care issues in the Janesville area as well. Pastor Mike is married to his college sweetheart Marilyn. They have two daughters, Michelle Pope and Marci Johnson, both of Janesville. Michelle is married to Todd, the Senior Associate pastor of New Life Assembly. The Jacksons have four grandchildren. It is our pastor’s desire to see Janesville and area become Christ conscious.
