About Us
We are a new church that was born from the merger of two respected churches in our community. As a new church, we are excited about our future and invite you to be a part of our creative process as we discover who God is calling us to be in this time and place.
Communion is a central part of our weekly worship service. We offer a variety of styles of small groups (Bible study, prayer, service & mission, youth), which we call Disciple Groups. We are a congregation that is open to questions and dialogue. We confess faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord - but truly welcome anyone who is just exploring Christianity - a confession of faith is not required to be considered an active member of our community. We practice baptism by immersion by those able to confess faith for him/herself. We value discerning the movement of the Holy Spirit while valuing both an intelligent and practical faith.
We currently meet in a storefront near the west-side post office, but have purchased 10 acres of land between Menards and Highway 30.
Currently we are in relationship with several families who have come to Iowa as refugees from central Africa and we hope to partner with the African church.

What to Expect
Leadership
Stasia Fine
Our young female pastor is full of faith and full of expectations! She loves her congregation and believes in them and what God is doing in their lives! Stasia was called into ministry through a vision at the age of 10. When she was in high school she preached her first sermon and shortly thereafter announced to her church family her intention to go into professional ministry. In 2010, she was ordained with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). A Cedar Rapidian by birth, Stasia graduated from Prairie High School in 2000. After graduation she attended Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she majored in Communications, Bible, and minored in Youth Ministry. While in Minnesota she served "high-risk" youth through Realife Ministries (Stillwater, MN) and worked at her college radio station WVOE. Upon graduation she answered God's call to return to Cedar Rapids to start a Young Life outreach to "high-risk" youth. During that time she worked at Prairie Middle School and even served as interim children's and youth director at Shueyville United Methodist Church. She then moved to Chicago to attend the University of Chicago's Divinity School and lived in the Disciples House. After a year of study there, she transferred to Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. While in seminary she worked for the Clapham Group (www.claphamgroup.com), serving congressional staff and national church leaders through reading groups and retreats. For a short time after graduating she worked in the bookstore at the Washington National Cathedral and then as Director of Student Ministries at Galilee United Methodist Church in Sterling, Virginia. In spring of 2012, Stasia and her husband Scott moved to Cedar Rapids to pastor New Disciples.Location & Directions
