Who We Are

The mission of New Denver Church is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We don’t believe a church is simply a building or set of programs but rather a community of people. Our prayer is that this new community of people will be known by their authentic relationships with one another and the way they share God’s love with the people of Denver. We also believe that those who have never been a part of a church like this should experience acceptance, grace, and ultimately, what it means to have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our Services

What are services like?
Our services last about 1 hour and 15 minutes and usually include hearing about what’s happening in our community, worship with music, and a time of teaching. It’s hard to define a musical style, but if we had to, we’d say that we’re “progressive.” We sing newer songs written by artists like Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, and Steve Fee. We also sing some well-known hymns of the Christian faith, especially in light of their lyrical substance. But if you’re desiring a more “traditional” music style, you’ll probably never hear an organ or harp at New Denver Church. If you’re new to church or Christianity, the best way to describe our style is to say that we like indie music as well as popular bands like U2, Coldplay, Dave Matthews Band, Switchfoot, Green Day…stuff like that. During the teaching time (sermon), we usually explain a passage of the Bible. Even though the Bible is an ancient book, we believe it still has great wisdom for us as we navigate difficult relationships, career moves, financial decisions, and the tough issues of life. More than anything, we think the Bible offers a hopeful message for finding meaning and purpose in a relationship with God. In light of that, our pastors work hard to be understandable and helpful wherever you are on your journey of faith. Every month or so, we celebrate communion (also called the Lord’s Supper or Eucharist). It’s open to anyone who follows Jesus, but participation is optional. You don’t have to dress up to attend New Denver Church. In fact, we’re pretty casual and laid back. When you come, hopefully you’ll meet some new people and connect in meaningful ways with others. But if you just want to come, sit in the back, and “check things out,” that’s fine too.

What is the community like?
We're a small but growing community that reflects our surrounding neighborhoods - young adults and young families make up the bulk of our church, but we're seeing growth older age groups and desire to become more diverse in this regard. Ethnically we look similar to the Wash Park/Bonnie Brae neighborhoods in which we're situated with a majority caucasian community complemented by a variety of other ethnic backgrounds.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Our community is made up of people at all stages in their journey of faith - from skeptics and cynics to long-time followers of Jesus. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey we want to meet you where you are and help you take steps toward God.
