What to Expect

What are services like?
Our services are simple, in a wheelchair-accessible sanctuary. Our Sabbath School starts at 10 a.m., and consists of a few hymns, a health-related homily, and the week's Sabbath lesson (check out out latest bulletin at https://middlesboroky.adventistchurch.org/our-latest-bulletin for a link). Our service begins at 11:30 (see the link above for the particulars). All are welcome to join us for lunch and fellowship following the lesson each week.

What is the community like?
A lot of churches say "come as you are," but do they really mean it? Our congregation is small (usually 30-35), but you'll find old, young, black, white, Asian, Mexican, and people with suits, casual attire and even shorts with a tee-shirt). You'll meet farmers, mine workers, former military, professionals; all are welcome.

What if I'm not a Christian?
The first thing you should do is open a bible. Start with the chapter of John, in the New Testament, and then read the Ten Commandments in Exodus Chapter 20, verses 2-17. We believe in honoring all of God's laws; not just the ones we choose to obey. Then just come, ask questions of anyone at any time (even directed to the pastor during the sermon; we welcome it). We have targeted bible studies and will work with you to examine Christianity, answer all of your questions, and help you deal with life's struggles.

Leadership

Mykal Ringstaff

Mykal Ringstaff

Mykal is terribly busy doing God's work, so until he gives me a biography to help you get to know him, I'm going to talk about him. Mykal is an ordained minister. He spells his name like a Czech, but he's got no accent; he's as American as apple pie. I've known a few people with hearts as big as his, but none with bigger. Don't try telling him a joke; he won't get it. Come and listen to him preach, and as a channel for the Holy Spirit he'll make you a better person. I'm the one who took his picture, and I should have made sure his tie was straight, but I'm pretty sure he just doesn't care. Is purple his favorite color? Beats me; ask him yourself. I really love this guy, and I'm pretty sure you will, too.

What Members Say

Mike shared their experience Jul 2023

After a lifetime of moves (16 in 22 years), I struggled after moving to SE Kentucky to find a church suited to meet my worship needs. I prayed earnestly for a year, and visited a lot of area churches. Within 10 minutes of entering the Middlesboro SDA church I thought I'd found a new family, and by the conclusion of the service I absolutely knew it.
