What to Expect

What are services like?
Our services are reverent, traditional, and warmly pastoral. Worship at Mary, Haven of Grace is rooted in the Catholic liturgical tradition, with Scripture, prayer, hymnody, and the Holy Eucharist at the center of parish life. We value beauty in worship: vestments, candles, sacred music, and a sense of holy stillness all help us enter more deeply into the mystery of God’s presence. At the same time, our preaching and pastoral life are grounded in mercy, welcome, and the conviction that the Gospel is genuinely good news for all people. Homilies seek to connect Scripture, tradition, and everyday life, calling us not only to believe, but to love more fully, serve more courageously, and see Christ in one another. Whether you are lifelong Catholic, returning after time away, from another Christian tradition, or simply seeking a place to pray, you are welcome here. Our worship is Catholic in form, inclusive in spirit, and centered on Christ’s self-giving love.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You are still very welcome here. You do not need to be Christian, Catholic, or certain about what you believe in order to visit, pray with us, or be part of the life of the parish. We believe faith often begins with curiosity, longing, questions, and even uncertainty. During Communion, our parish practices a semi-open Communion. Baptized Christians who believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist and who approach with reverence and a sincere desire for God’s grace, are welcome to receive. Those who are not baptized, are not Christian, or do not wish to receive Communion are warmly invited to come forward for a blessing instead, or simply remain seated in prayer. No one will be pressured, singled out, or judged. Wherever you are spiritually, you are welcome to come, listen, pray, and encounter the beauty, mercy, and love of Christ at your own pace.
