What to Expect

What are services like?
We normally start with a time of singing. Our music is a blend of traditional hymns and more contemporary songs. There are a variety of expressions people use to worship. Some will be more expressive, raising their hands and shouting. Others will sit or kneel and meditate in prayer. And still others will simply stand and sing. We love kids. We welcome kids to worship with us as we sing to the Lord. We will dismiss them for L&J Kids (our children's ministry for kids 6 and under) after the third song. During that time, they will be prayed for and taught truths about God and the hope found in Christ. We have a check-in system that is easy to get started with. Just ask anyone wearing an L&J Kids badge for help. Following the music, we devote much of the time to the preaching of the Word. Normally, we preach verse by verse through books of the Bible. On occasion, we will preach through various topics, always looking at what Scripture has to say to us. On a weekly basis, we gather together to worship the Lord and to hear His word preached. Normally, our corporate worship includes several things: singing, praying, reading Scripture, preaching, and observing the Sacraments (namely, Baptism and the Lord's Supper). We try to center everything we do each Sunday on the Bible and the Gospel.

What is the community like?
What takes place on a Sunday morning is only one aspect of church life at Love & Justice. Community Groups are where real church life takes place. Community Groups are small groups of people who live life together for the ultimate purpose of making and maturing disciples of Christ for the glory of Jesus and for their joy. These groups are made of people who live in or around your neighborhood, allowing you to actually live life with them, and to impact your local community. Through Community Groups, we dive deeper into the Gospel, deeper into community, and make a deeper impact with the Gospel of Christ in our neighborhoods.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Non-Christians, seekers, de-churched and unchurched people are all welcome. We don't shy away from skeptics or people with hard questions.
