About Us

We're pretty sure you've never been to a church quite like this before.

We meet for worship in a house that has been turned into a coffee house. We gather for worship around tables, drinking coffee and eating bagels while we worship God. We're a church that welcomes all people and lets them bring their brains with them to worship. We’re not afraid to ask the hard questions of life, and we don’t accept easy, spoon-fed answers. But our worship is not just an intellectual exercise. We regularly encounter and experience the living God in our time of worship. We truly seek to know God and love others the way Jesus loves them.

What to Expect

What are services like?
The first thing you'll notice is that worship is in a coffee house setting, with chairs around small tables. The room is decorated with a fountain, palm trees, candles, flowers, and fabrics. You will feel comfortable and relaxed in this casual, creative place. Arrive a few minutes before worship to grab a bagel and a cup of coffee, tea or lemonade. You are welcome to bring your food with you into the service, which will last about an hour. The music is mainly contemporary with a band. Song lyrics, scriptures, and graphics are projected on a large, high-definition screen. Services frequently include video clips, multimedia, drama, or special music. Sometimes there are moments of silence so you can share your own thoughts with God. Pastor Laura is committed to going deep into Scripture by doing lots of study in preparation for her messages, but she always tries to answer the question, “So what?” She believes that Scripture can change us when we understand what it said to its original audience, and what it might be saying to us today. Usually she groups messages into a series with a common theme, lasting several weeks. Every service culminates with communion. Everyone is welcome to come forward, take a piece of bread and dip it in the cup of grape juice as a remembrance of Jesus giving himself for us. People who do not want to take communion are welcome to remain in their seats.

What is the community like?
We are young, not-so-young, single, married, professionals, laborers, students, kids, youth, tattooed, pierced, clean-shaven, soccer moms, recovering addicts, grandmas, hipsters and everything in between. We welcome all people because we know that everyone is in need of God's grace.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You are welcome to visit, drink coffee, eat bagels, watch worship and ask questions - preferably after the service :-) We don't preach that "unbelievers" are going to hell. But we do think that Jesus Christ wants to have a personal relationship with you, so we'll preach that. And if you think we're right, we'd love to baptize you and welcome you into the Body of Christ - the Church. If not, you're still welcome to visit as long as you like.
