Hope Lutheran Church in Selden, Long Island reaches out to the people of several communities along Middle Country Road in Suffolk County, NY. Our mission is to make Christ known to all people by proclaiming a message of healing and hope through Jesus Christ and inviting them to share in worship, fellowship, and service. What to Expect

What are services like?
We celebrate Holy Communion at all four of our weekend services: on Saturday evenings at 5 p.m. and on Sundays, at 8, 9:30, and 11:15 a.m. We use several settings from Evangelical Lutheran Worship plus others from ecumenical sources. We enjoy a variety of musical forms, dance, and drama, and we celebrate traditional festivals of the Christian calendar with special services. We offer Prayers for Healing on the first weekend of each month and occasional Taize Prayer services. Our church is kid-friendly, and many lay people participate as worship leaders and in our choirs and bell choirs.

What is the community like?
The members of Hope reflect the community we live in. Selden-Coram is a growing suburban community in central Long Island, about 60 miles east of Manhattan. Most residents are middle class people who work on Long Island, with some commuting into the city. Most live in single-family homes but there are some apartment and condo communities in the area. The residents are predominantly caucasian, but the community is enriched by a mixture of racial and ethnic groups in the community. There are many activities for children, teens, and adults available in the community.

What if I'm not a Christian?
We invite you to visit with us for worship or join us for one of our other programs. You will be welcomed and respected by all. Children are invited to take attend Anchor Nursery School and take part in our Sunday School, Kids' Choir Club, Vacation Bible School, Drama Camp, and musical programs. Teens are welcome to join our youth group. If you have an interest in becoming a Christian we will provide instruction and support to assist you in your spiritual journey. All of our programs and ministries are provided for anyone wishing to take part.
