Grace Chapel, Bloomington, IN
About Us
On Oct. 18, 1981, the Korean United Methodist Church was established as the first Korean church in Bloomington, Indiana. Grace Chapel, its English-speaking ministry, was established in 1994.
Even though GC is a ministry in a Korean Church, we welcome people who are from different ethnic groups as the Bible commands: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age" (Matt 28:19-20). College is a time when students are faced with difficult questions about their identity, purpose, and place in this world. GC is a ministry built to aide students in discovering the answers to their questions and solidifying their foundation in the Christian faith.
The Bible: We believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God.
God: We believe that there is only one God who has existed from
the beginning and who always will. We believe His creation: God created the sun, the moon, the earth and the galaxy;
God created the world and everything in it.
Jesus: We believe that Jesus is God and "the Christ, the Son of the Living God" (Matthew 16:16). We believe His virgin birth, His miracles, His sinless and humble life, His death, His resurrection, His ascension and His return.
Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit is a gift to all who repent and are baptized (Acts 2:38) and is the Helper sent by God. Every Christian can live a godly life through the Holy Spirit.
Salvation: We believe that, not by our love to God, but by His love, mercy and grace for us, we are saved (1 John 4:10).
Salvation is a gift, that cannot be obtained by any human effort or ability, but through the grace of God alone. (Ephesians 2:8).
As a community in Christ, the members of Grace Chapel strive to:
1. develop a strong, personal relationship with Christ;
2. obey God's commands and live as citizens of
Heaven; and
3. share God's love with all people.

Ida Ruth GrayI have been privileged to have many Korean friends who attend Grace Chapel and have attended services there in past. I am a trained ESL volunteer and have had many Korean Students or their spouses as I teach them correct pronunciation, American idioms, through conversation and reading the Book of John together. This church has provided much joy and purpose to those dedicated to ESL Christian ministry and outreach.
