Grace Baptist Church of Arlington

About Us

We exist to glorifying God by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ

We’re encouraged that you desire to get to know us better. Grace Baptist Church of Arlington constituted on July 5, 2009. Many of the charter members had been members of Capitol Hill Baptist Church (CHBC) in Washington, DC previously and had a desire to advance the gospel in Arlington and Northern Virginia. Most of the charter members lived in Arlington or in other parts of Northern Virginia, but were commuting to Capitol Hill to hear the faithful preaching of God’s Word. Desirous to be a part of a church in the community in which they lived, these members began meeting together to sing, pray, and hear from God’s Word. In July of 2009, 31 believers covenanted with one another, constituted as a church, and called Mike Law Jr. as their pastor. The vision of Grace Baptist is the same that it was in the beginning – to glorify God by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in Arlington County and beyond, by God’s grace.

Our Services

Sunday
10:30am
In our Sunday morning service, we want to sing rich, theologically true, biblically-based hymns and spiritual songs, read scripture, confess statements of faith that accurately summarize biblical teaching, pray biblically and corporately, and, most critically, preach from the Bible.
09:30am
An hour before our corporate worship service, we meet to study Scripture and pray together. We spend the first half of our time together sharing prayer requests and praying for one another. The pastors encourage members to share major life events and important spiritual matters with the entire church during this time. We spend the second half in a Bible study or topical teaching time designed to engage our minds and encourage good deeds. During the teaching time, we will endeavor to study the New Testament while our Pastor is preaching through the Old Testament and vice-versa. From time-to-time, the pastors may also teach on an important Biblical topic, such as Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, parenting, money, or guidance and the will of God. We want the time to be interactive and welcome questions and comments from the body as we wrestle with the Word and its claims on our lives.

What to Expect

What are services like?
We meet at the Woman’s Club of Arlington on Sunday morning. Beginning at 9:30, we have our discipleship hour, a time focused on making disciples of Christ by offering classes for both children and adults. At 10:30, we hold our Sunday morning service, where we gather for about an hour and a half to sing, pray, and hear a portion of God’s Word preached. We are a family-friendly church and children are more than welcome to stay in for the service, though we provide care for children ages 0-3 as well. We often stay around to fellowship with one another after the service, and have been known to take over the food court at the Ballston Mall, meet in someone’s backyard for a picnic, or gather at a nearby park for lunch afterward. In our Sunday morning service, we want to sing rich, theologically true, biblically-based hymns and spiritual songs, read scripture, confess statements of faith that accurately summarize biblical teaching, pray biblically and corporately, and, most critically, preach from the Bible. What should I wear? You’ll find a variety of dress among our members. The only encouragement in attire is that it is modest and appropriate. We want to care for one another by not dressing in a distracting way, so that we can hear from God’s Word unhindered.

What is the community like?
We encourage our members to get to know one another and to share our burdens and sorrows with one another. We want to center our relationships on our shared faith in Jesus Christ, allowing us to partner with people who are not like us in a worldly way (race, class, or personality). After the Sunday service, we regularly spend significant time discussing the sermon and our lives. We live this out practically by often going to lunch together at a nearby food court or park after the service. Members often invite one another to each other’s homes and make time to have deeper conversations during the week.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Please come! Every Sunday our Pastor shares the central message of Christianity and shares a word of application from God directly to those who aren't Christians. If you want to know more about the Bible and about the Christ who is at the center of Christianity itself, then we're a great place for you.
