What are services like?
The praise and worship service includes contemporary songs and traditional hymns redone in a modern style. The service is a lively come-as-you-are affair, that many of our younger families and young adults attend. Holy communion is served on the first Sunday of every month. The service is lead by the praise band Thunder at First Light, whose music is both dynamic and spiritual. The service is held in Angel Hall every Sunday at 9:45 AM. The traditional worship service begins at 11:00 AM and is held in the Sanctuary. You will find folks dressed in both casual and dressy attire. This worship service includes hymns led by the chancel choir, an affirmation of faith, both organ and piano music, prayer time, sermon and an invitation to faith. During the service the children are invited to come forward for a special message prepared just for them. While this worship service is traditional, it is very lively. The Celebration Ringers hand bell choir is usually featured on the third Sundays of each month. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of every month. This is a great service for people of all ages.

What if I'm not a Christian?
A Community Centered Church Methodists have been in La Porte for over a century-and-a-half. First church continues that commitment to proclaiming God’s Kingdom in the La Porte area. We work extensively with other churches and organizations to make a difference in La Porte and the surrounding areas. We repair houses, clean roads, visit the sick and imprisoned, work with children, feed the hungry and much more to bring Christ’s message of hope to those who are struggling. We care deeply for La Porte and our community. A Family Centered Church First Church believes that strong Christ-centered families deepen faith and change the world. We are committed to equipping families in the journey of becoming Christ-centered. First has a strong children’s ministry with a Sunday morning program as well as weekday programs (Praise Kidz and 'Tweens) and summer Programs (Kidz Adventure Camp). First Church has a thriving youth ministry that draws from several schools in the area. We also offer classes for adults from Bible study to practical classes on finance, parenting and spiritual practices. A Church for People Like You First Church is a church for all types of people.
