Our Services

What are services like?
Sunday at FUMC Allen starts with worship. Daybreak Worship meets at 8:15am with a service that sets the tone for the day. The music is modern and upbeat with guitars and drum and a variety of music teams leading the worship experience. The message of Jesus is authentically presented in a way that is relevant to your everyday life. The talks are meaningful and uplifting, often with a little humor thrown in. At 9:30am, our Traditional Worship features the great hymns of our faith and choral music by the Chancel Choir accompanied by our newly formed orchestra. This service includes acts of praise, confession, thanksgiving, proclamation, creeds of the Church, and dedication. Sermons are biblically based and seek to emphasize spiritual growth and Christian service. At 11:00am, we offer a Contemporary Worship service where we praise God through music, connect with God through prayer, learn about God through scripture and sermon, and experience creative ways of connecting what we learn and how we live through the use of multimedia and contemporary Christian music led by the Praise Team. On Sunday evenings, we offer a variety of Bible studies for adults. Children can attend music classes ranging from choir to percussion. Our youth start the afternoon with orchestra, choir rehearsal, and/or Bible study followed by a snack supper and worship.

What is the community like?
Overall, the atmosphere at our church is fairly casual. We meet at 601 S Greenville Ave in Allen, Texas, for worship in the sanctuary at 8:15am, 9:30am, and 11:00am every Sunday. We have several entrances to the church, and our visitors typically park along the south and west sides of the church on Sundays. Greeters are on hand each week to welcome you and answer any of your questions. Our main information/welcome table is set up in the the labyrinth area, which is located in the approximate center of the church building. We offer free coffee and donuts to our guests. If you'd like to make a donation to Send Hope, one of the missions support by the church, just drop some change in the donation box.

What if I'm not a Christian?
You are welcome here. Whether you are new to Allen, new to Texas, new to Methodism, or new to Christianity, or unfamiliar to the Christian faith, coming to a strange place with new faces, new practices, and new music can cause some anxiety and trepidation. However, when you step in the doors at FUMC Allen, we expect you to be greeted by a friendly face who can quickly help you find where you need to go, be it Sunday morning, evening, or during the week.

Todd Harris

Todd Harris

Todd Harris is a native Texan, born in San Antonio and raised in Houston. As a teenager, he began to hear God's call to ministry, and he believed he would someday be working in some capacity within the church. As a student at Texas A&M, he was involved in the Wesley Foundation and taught fourth grade Sunday school. After graduation, he spent a semester traveling in Europe.Upon his return, he began seminary at Perkins School of Theology where he received his degree in 1990. Two years later, he married his wife, Stephanie, and they are the parents of two children: Kathryn, 12, and Philip, 7. Their lives are sometimes used to illustrate their dad's Sunday sermons. Todd has served the Lord in many roles during his faith walk. Like many pastors, he's served as the youth director at churches in Houston and Canton. Todd also served for five years at John Wesley Church in Houston as an associate pastor. He was the senior pastor at St Andrew's UMC in Mt. Pleasant.Prior to his appointment at FUMC Allen, he served as associate pastor at Christ UMC in Plano for 10 years. Todd has been serving as our senior pastor since Father's Day 2006. In addition to the many roles he plays here at the church, he is the chair of the Committee on Preparations and Qualifications for the Board of Ordained Ministry. In this role, he participates in the examination of candidates for ordination. He's also a member of a clergy group that takes bimonthly retreats to support each other in ministry. Todd enjoys fly fishing and would love to retire to Eleven Mile Canyon in Colorado to fish and read John Grisham novels. Until then, he's thrilled to be serving at FUMC where his goal is to "maximize the God-given potential of our congregation." His prayer for all of us is to be intentional about our discipleship and in sharing our faith with others.
