About Us
A mainline church with an open heart.
We are a small but active church housed in marvelous historic buildings in downtown New Brunswick. We are involved in interfaith work, ministry with people with a variety of disabilities, and housing issues for particular groups of our city's population. Our music program cherishes acoustic & authentic music from many parts of the world. We are especially good at chamber music of the baroque period. Our concerts are regularly attended by New Brunswick school children.

Leadership
Hartmut Kramer-Mills
Pastor Hartmut received his theological education in Germany (Heidelberg and Marburg Universities) and in the United States (McCormick Theol. Seminary in Chicago). He holds a doctorate in church history. He specializes in small church ministry, enjoying its intergenerational dimension and the fact that small churches are open to "signature activities", as these give particular character to ministry. He started in his current position in November 2000.Location & Directions

I have been coming to this church for about 25 years. Members have become like my second family. Our one son was baptized here and most recently married here. We have been and continue to be an integral part of New Brunswick. Music is diverse and very good. Lots of social events and service events. It's a great place to discern your understanding of faith and of God.

First Reformed Church has literally been a "godsend" to our family. I have a child with severe autism who can be extremely difficult and disruptive. First Reformed Church has always been welcoming, encouraging and supportive to our family. I cannot say enough good things about this church.

First Reformed Church is my new home. I was brought here by the music and the grace of God and I stay for the fellowship, and the worship, and the community. The music affirms my efforts to connect with the Divine; the dancing refreshes my rhythmic soul (such as it is): and the fellowship and community keep me sane and connected to my people. It's great to attend a church that cares so much about music and a serious and loving contemplation of God. The community is funny and cool, which is refreshing to me, someone who was looking for an open-minded, yet also traditional, type of Protestantism. Also, you should come here if you like harpsichords!
