First Presbyterian Church of Glendale
traditional, missional, warm, caring, transforming, committed
About Us
Our 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship brings a rich traditional offering of choral and organ music and biblical Christ-centered preaching. Our 5 p.m. 2nd Saturday Worship in the historic restored Church House offers a casual service with a blend of contemporary and traditional music with a multi-media message and the Lord's Supper. We praise God for God's goodness, speak the truth about ourselves as we confess our sin, hear the Word of God, and respond to God's Word. Our preacher, Pastor Steve, speaks from the lower chancel to engage the congregation and preaches without notes. The sermons are expository in style seeking to frame our life experiences of today with the timeless truths of the Scriptures and the promises of God as revealed in God's creating, redeeming, sustaining love, in Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Word of God, and the Holy Spirit, the Word God speaks inwardly to our spirits, hearts and minds.
We are a congregation small in size but mighty in works as we reach out to the community as Christ's disciples. Many of our members engage in local missions such as Valley Interfaith and the Interfaith Hospitality Network. Feeding the hungry is one of our signature causes. Our Community Youth Group meet regularly around a variety of issues and activities as they learn how to be Christ's disciples in a modern world.
Frequent fellowship activities draw us together in the bonds of deep friendship. We are the "Cheers" church where everybody knows your name.
Founded in 1855 and steeped in history, we are building on the past and reaching for the future with God's help. Come and see! We'd love to welcome you...
