About Us
First Congregational UCC is an Open and Affirming congregation in the United Church of Christ. The church was begun as a pipeline for the underground railroad during Civil War times. Social conscious Christians came together and through their common actions and hopes in Christ formed a church here in Downers Grove. We are proud of our past, but also excited for our future. Come see a different kind of church- one where all God's children are affirmed as being made in the image of the divine, where toegther we journey in faith, growing together and engaging in ministry beyond our walls.

Leadership
Scott Oberle
Pastor Scott comes to us in his 14th year of ministry. Ordained at Duke divinity school with a Masters in Biblical Study. Pastor Scott is a self described "spiritual mutt" growing up Roman Catholic, joining the UCC, and going to a United Methodist Seminary. He has a strong passion for mission and outreach and has led over 48 mission trips around the country and around the globe. He enjoys reading, sports, and most of all spending time with his family.Location & Directions
