What to Expect

What are services like?
We gather each week to grow together in our faith and to deepen our relationship with God. Through the use of a blended service of word and song, all are invited to experience the presence of God in our midst. We share in a service of communion on the first Sunday of each month, believing that Christ's table is open to everyone. Children are an important part of our community, and we are committed to providing them with a safe environment where they can learn God's love and Christ's teachings. We offer a children's message during our service and children in grades K-5 are invited to participate in our Sunday School program during the worship time. Our nursery space for children under 5 enables them to freely roam and play while parents can still be engaged in the service. Our upbeat worship experience will empower you to foster your own faith journey, preparing you to grow in Faith, Hope, and Love.

What is the community like?
Our congregation is a diverse group representing a wide variety of theological backgrounds. We are united by our belief in the Trinity and our faith in Jesus Christ our Lord. Established as the first faith community for the people of Rindge in 1764, we continue our mission of being the town's church with a strong commitment to reach out in service and support to our neighbors. The First Congregational Church is truly a multigenerational community where young families and seasoned citizens come together to worship, serve, and laugh. We are a friendly church where you are sure to feel at home.

What if I'm not a Christian?
To those who are single, married, divorced, gay, filthy rich, dirt poor, or somewhere in between, you are welcome here. If you sing like an angel or if you can’t carry a tune in a bucket, you are welcome here. If you’re “just browsing,” just woke up, or just got out of jail you are welcome here. We don’t care if your faith is stronger than the Pope’s, or if you haven’t been in church since you were a child, you are welcome here. Those who are over 60 but not grown up yet, and all who are teenagers and growing up too fast, you are welcome here. Soccer moms, NASCAR dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, latte-sippers, vegetarians, junk-food eaters are all welcome here. If you are in recovery or still addicted, you are welcome here. If you’re having problems, if you’re down in the dumps, or if you don’t like “organized religion,” we’ve been there too, and you are welcome here. Those who think the earth is flat, work too hard, don’t work, can’t spell, or are finding us because grandma is in town and wanted to go to church, you are welcome here. If you are inked, pierced or both, you are welcome here. Those who could use a prayer right now, who have had religion shoved down their throat as a kids, or who got lost in traffic and wound up here by mistake, you are welcome in this place. Tourists, seekers, believers and wonderers are welcome here. And to you who are looking at this page…..we say welcome!
