About Us

ABOUT US

First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Haines City was established in 1919 when this central Florida community had a population of about 600. Nearing the anniversary of our Centennial Celebration, we believe that our best years lie ahead of us! We are part of a mainline Protestant denomination called the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), whose beginnings were forged on the frontier in America’s infancy. The earliest Disciples were part of two separate movements to foster the unity of the Church for the sake of Christ’s mission. The original intention was not to become a denomination. Nevertheless, we evolved into a distinct group within the universal church that has a particular identity and witness.
