About Us
First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Bellingham is a place of welcome for everyone. With the beauty of the nature inspired sanctuary and the stained glass windows, your body will relax and your spirit will ease into worship instantly. The Family Area in the Sanctuary offers rocking chairs, quiet toys, coloring pages, and cuddly critters provided for wee ones and their grown-ups during worship. There you'll find a place of comfort, solace, and giggles. If you're feeling fidgety, meander over to this area of the sanctuary and make yourself at home.
The Disciples are a denomination where all are welcome. We are a "movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. We have no creeds and worship does not follow a traditional liturgy. Born on the American frontier in the 1800s, we continue to be influenced by our founding ideals of our unity in Christ with openness and diversity in practice and belief.

What to Expect
Leadership
Gary Shoemaker
Rev. Gary Shoemaker was born and raised in Kalispell, Montana, hence his great interest in the outdoors. He is also a musician: has a great tenor voice, plays guitar, and directs the choir. Gary did his undergraduate work at Northwest Christian College (now University), Texas Christian University and the University of Oregon. He received his Master of Divinity from Claremont School of Theology. Gary has served churches in Montana, Oregon, and California. Besides his duties as pastor at FCC, Rev. Shoemaker serves in many capacities with the Regional Christian Church. He also serves locally on the United Ministries in Higher Education at Western Washington University and participates in many local outreach projects. Pastor Gary is married to Tamalyn Kralman who is also an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Tamalyn serves as Minister of Educational Programs at St. James Presbyterian Church in Bellingham. Their children are grown, son and daughter-in-law Zach and Megan, and daughter Brett.Location & Directions
