About Us

Powerful Preaching, Loving Fellowship

WE BELIEVE A CHURCH should not be filled with spectators but participants. We believe a church should be described as a spiritual hospital where people come for spiritual healing., not a spiritual museum where the relics of “pharisee-ism” are displayed. We have a first-class way of doing things.

WE BELIEVE THAT CHRISTIANS should talk, behave, live, and dress like a citizen of Heaven. The basis for these standards is found in the Bible. We make no apology for our conservative beliefs in many areas including music, social issues, dress, and behavior.

WE BELIEVE GOD’S business is the greatest business in the world.

What to Expect

What are services like?
We believe in having a church service with uplifting hymns and spiritual songs that will stir and inspire you; prayer; and best of all, practical preaching of the Word of God. We are a church that believes in prayer. We take time at the opening of the service, as well as before the preaching and at the invitation to pray. Some of these prayers deal with the needs and requests of our church family and friends, while others simply praise and thank God for His goodness and faithfulness. Preaching We consider the preaching of the Word of God to be the best and the most important time of the service. I Corinthians 1:21 reads, “…it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” We believe that the best help you can get in any struggle of life is from the Bible, and that preaching is that help. Invitation At the end of the preaching, Pastor York will close with an invitation. This is a time for many to respond and make a life-changing decision by walking down the aisle and praying at the altar. A decision may be to trust Jesus Christ as personal Saviour or to become a better Christian. Whatever your decision may be, the altar is open for you to join the others that will make decisions. If you would like someone to pray for you or would like to make your decision public, there will be men and women from the church who will be by the altar to pray with you and help you.

What is the community like?
Our church is known in the area as the friendliest church around. We work extra hard to ensure that each and every person who attends a service feels encouraged and uplifted by the fellowship. There is no dress code to attend our services, but in case you’re wondering, a majority of our church members wear their “Sunday best” — the men in a dress shirt and dress slacks, typically with a tie, and the women in modest dress. Our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable on your visit here at First Baptist!

What if I'm not a Christian?
We welcome anyone, of any faith, to attend First Baptist. You will feel welcomed and uplifted by our extremely friendly congregation.
