Doyle Sager

Doyle is a native of Albany, MO, and has served as senior pastor of First Baptist City, Jefferson City, since July 1997. His life mission statement expresses a desire to live God's grace and to build bridges of understanding and love, and his life text is Galatians 5:22-23. He loves his wife Janet, his three children and their spouses and his grandchildren. (He also really loves coffee and the Kansas City Royals). For relaxation, Doyle follows Major League Baseball, collects old books, watches lots of movies (especially old black and whites) and reads lots of poetry and presidential biography. Doyle holds degrees from Central Missouri University (BS Ed) and from Midwestern Baptist Seminary (Master of Divinity, Doctor of Ministry). He enjoys his work on the Ethics Committee of a local hospital, observing the convergence of compassion, justice and science. Doyle currently serves as president of the Baptist General Convention of Missouri and on the board of trustees of William Jewell College, Liberty, Missouri. He was co-founder and president of Mainstream Missouri Baptists (1999-2002), an organization committed to preserving historic Baptist principles.
