Lead Pastor/Staff Elder
First Baptist Elsberry is an elder-led, congregational church. The church has two elders, but only one of them is employed by the church. Sam Byers is the elder on staff and serves as the lead or primary preaching pastor. Sam served as a youth minister at churches in Illinois and Missouri and as a church planter in Missouri before receiving the call to pastor at First Baptist. Sam has been married to Margaret for 11 years. They have five children (three biological and two adopted) and a foster child.
