What to Expect

What are services like?
What should I expect? A "typical" meeting will be different from one week to the next. We believe that God knows exactly what we need and meets with us in the worship services. Here's an idea of what you will see take place during a worship service setting. We have a time to connect with other people before our morning worship service after Sunday School classes. Services usually begin with a time of praise and worship (singing) followed by prayer. There is an opportunity to participate in the blessing of giving tithes and offerings. The pastor or a guest speaker will then bring a message that God has given him to speak to the congregation. We believe that this message will encourage, speaking to hearts and lives.

What is the community like?
New to Moberly First? If you've never been to church, or it's been a while, or you just haven't been to Moberly First, then we hope this page will help make you feel welcome. We've compiled a list of questions that you may have before coming. If we missed a question you still might have, please contact us! What should I wear? At Moberly First, some people come in jeans, some in work casual, some in dress clothes. The clothes are not the important part; you are! Do I have to stand up and sing? This is a great question! We do stand and sing as part of our worship, but we have no expectations on you or anyone at the service. You will be invited to stand at different times during the service You will see some people standing up and some people sitting. Our only goal during our services is to meet with God! Can I bring my kids? We hope you do, and we're ready for them! During the morning worship meetings, we have childcare from infant to 3 years and Kid's Power Church for children 4 to 12 years. If your children are older than that, they are encouraged to sit with your family unit during the service. We believe they will enjoy it as much as you. We also have an active and involved youth group, Pursuit. There is even a Youth Praise Band! This group meets on Sunday and Wednesday evenings.

What if I'm not a Christian?
Moberly First is a church with a vision to love God, love people, and to see more changed lives. Each weekend worship experience provides times of powerful worship, creative and engaging components, and dynamic Bible messages. A typical worship experience lasts about 1 hour and 30 minutes. You’re invited to come and be a part of what God is doing at Moberly First. The culture of Moberly First is upward, forward and outward servanthood. From the moment you arrive, you will be welcomed with a warm smile and a friendly handshake by George and Judy Martin. Each Worship Experience offers the opportunity to grow in your faith as well as connect with others. It's our desire to reach all people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Not only do we focus on the Worship Experiences on Sunday, Wednesday, and throughout the week, but we have dozens of opportunities to share the love of Christ with people in everyday life. Ways in which we fulfill our mission of reaching all people extends to small groups, students and children ministries, local and worldwide outreach opportunities, music, counseling, leadership training, and even through our sign language classes. You'll see very quickly why reaching all people from every walk of life is part of our mission statement. We believe that the church should be more than people just coming to a weekend service. It's our goal to make disciples and to allow everyone who calls Moberly First home to get involved in serving others. Arrive early to fellowship and engage in conversation!
