We are a place of sanctuary, hope and action. We are a family of people who humbly seek to be closer to God. When you come to worship with us, you will experience no claims of perfection and no gatekeepers of God's grace. Each one of us makes our mistakes and asks God's forgiveness. We seek to know God's love in our lives and to have that love overflow us and spill out into the streets of Laurel, and beyond, where there is a world of hurt and emptiness waiting to be filled.

09:00am: Traditional Worship Service A quiet and elegant service with traditional hymns and prayers.
10:00am: Together @ Ten Getting to know each other is time well spent. That's why we offer complimentary food and fellowship in our Fellowship Hall between services for the congregation to gather together every week.
10:30am: Contemporary Worship w/praise band A robust and spirited service with a praise band playing contemporary Christian music.

What to Expect

What are services like?
Church services bring us closer to God and help bring together a community of faith. As we gather weekly, the scripture we hear and the prayers we say together remind us who God is and of the amazing gifts we have been given. Each service has a different feel, but they all express the joy we experience through our relationship with God and with each other. Sunday Morning Worship 9:00 AM - Traditional Worship Service A quiet and elegant service with traditional hymns and prayers. 10:30 AM - Contemporary Worship w/praise band A robust and spirited service with a praise band playing contemporary Christian music. Other Sunday Morning Activities 9:00 AM - Sunday School for ages 3-Adult Religious education for all ages is provided weekly. Childcare is provided in the nursery for our 9am and 10:30am worship services for children up to 6 years old. During our 9am worship service we have a Preschool Sunday School class for children. Our childcare providers are trained, supervised and CPR-certified. Childcare is provided for other church events as needed. Leadership

Stephanie Vader

Rev. Stephanie Vader is the lead pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Rev. Stephanie has been the lead pastor at Emmanuel for 10 years and loves serving in a Christ-like community where ordinary people are empowered to do extraordinary things. Her passion is to build Christ-like communities that practice the way of Jesus who invites everyone to claim the true meaning of their lives by giving themselves away in service to God and others. She is proud of the fact that Emmanuel is a place that welcomes believers, seekers and doubters because the Good News is for everyone. Rev. Stephanie is a native Marylander who grew up in Montgomery County. Before coming to Emmanuel she was the lead pastor at Centenary UMC in Shady Side, MD. Rev. Stephanie serves on the Greater Washington District Committee on Ministry whose task is to guide and examine candidates for ordination. She is married to Lewis Taylor and has two daughters. She loves frequenting public libraries so she can always have something to read.
