Covington Bible Church is congregation of around 150 that teaches the Bible and encourages living it out. We have a passion for missions. Ours is a church where folk of various generations can meet around the Word of Growth for mutual growth and encouragement.
What are services like?
Our services are blended, with a lean toward traditional. The preaching of the Word is the core of our services.
What is the community like?
Our church community reflects our community. Covington is a mill town in the Alleghany Highlands. Our membership is mostly middle-class folk who draw their income from employers like MeadWestvaco, a paper mill that is the communities biggest employer.
A number of our members are home-schoolers. We also have several educators who are involved in the public education systems.
Our goal is to emphasis what we have in common in Christ.
What if I'm not a Christian?
There is no arm-twisting at CBC.
Over the years a number of people who have not yet trusted Christ as Savior have attended CBC for a number of months. We try to not be needlessly offensive to such seekers, but, neither, do we pander to them. To do so would be dishonest and insulting.
If a non-Christian attends CBC she/he will come to understand what the Bible has to say. While we recognize the urgency of trusting Christ, ours is not a "hurry up and make a decision, now" style.
Lookers, tire-kickers, gawkers, even atheists (as long as they disbelieve politely) are welcome.
