About Us

a gentle, thoughtful, peaceful community

We are a contemplative church community where the less than perfect are more than welcome. We are a quiet, gentle congregation. We make room for children. We are not in a hurry. We are learning how to be prayerful, how to listen, how to love, how to be followers of Christ. We have prayer paths and a labyrinth open to the public for silent meditation.

Our Services

What to Expect

What are services like?
Our worship services are slow-paced, intimate, and meaningful. We blend traditional liturgy and the church calendar with Taize chants, creative preaching, silent moments, and lively children.

What is the community like?
Our church community is small, warm, and welcoming. We are committed to being gentle, compassionate, and gracious. We are inviting but not intrusive.

What if I'm not a Christian?
If you want a quiet place to think, our woods are open to anyone. If you want to meet Christians who won't get in your face, come hang out with us. If you want to ask the hard questions . . . we'll let you, and we won't force an answer. If you want a place to sit with your doubt . . . we get that. We'll let you be. If you are mad at God or at Christians or both . . . that's okay by us. If you are looking for God . . . we would be honored to look with you.

I haven't experienced another church like Covenant. The small community has a rich contemplative tradition with contemporary significance. There is such a welcoming and hospitable feel to the place. The preacher (Kyndall Renfro) is one of the best preachers I've ever heard. I was only able to visit as an out-of-town guest, but I know that if I lived in the San Antonio area, this would be my home.
