At Cornerstone Church Newark. “Come as you are” is our belief. Don’t think you have to meet a certain criteria to join us. God is interested in your heart, not your suit.
“Come as you are” can also mean bring your cares, troubles, scars and concerns of life with you. It’s not about where you’ve been, but where your headed. We are here to help you walk just as you will help others walk, all through and by the Grace of God.
Here at Cornerstone, we are striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible, where there’s relevant teaching, heart-felt worship, honest friendships, constant prayer and compassionate care for those in need. In short, we’d like to have the kind of contagious Christianity that can influence and encourage the entire community, one life at a time.

Danny Slimp
Senior Pastor
Pastor Danny Slimp answered the call to the ministry in December 2006. Danny has been at Cornerstone since September 13, 2008. Danny married Tina Ferguson in 1980 and together they raised four boys. Danny & Tina now celebrate 12 grandchildren.
Danny retired from law enforcement in 2008. Danny & Tina came from the north part of Wise County having lived in the Alvord / Sunset area several years. Danny & Tina attended Voice of Triumph Assembly of God in Sunset where they were active in the ministry there. Danny assisted with the song service while Tina was active in the children’s church ministry. It was during their work at Voice of Triump that God directed them to the ministry at Cornerstone Church. Both of them enjoy the ministry God has placed them in and believe that Cornerstone is going to continue to grow at the direction of God.
